VILLAGE OF CRIES ©
                    by Nadine Campbell

He opens his eyes, its dark
Left on his own in a park
He holds his face in his hands
Against a wall his small body was slammed

First step
Pulled back
Second movement
Then slapped

He cries,the pain is fierce
Abuse, cruelty, no one cares
Isolated, no hugs, no home
No love

Third step
Cry for help
Fourth movement
Mass confusion

Taken away and violated
An innocent child so consecrated

No one to say heart felt words
His limp body no longer his

On his final resting day
A village of cries lay in dismay

Fifth step
Say goodbye
Final step
End of life!
